LLAMAU
This was my second-year student placement during the pandemic of covid 19. Llamau is the leading homelessness charity in Wales, supporting the most vulnerable young people and women. I was placed for 8 weeks in placement made up of 4 weeks. Four weeks (live)and four weeks online with legacy activities(making up boxes of resources and activity sheets accompanied with videos).
This placement was split up because of the government guidance during the pandemic. This project was safely measured for the workshops to take place adopting strict guidance and risk assessed at all times. I designed a project with the steak holders adopting the aims and needs of the participants and the centre's ethos.
The aim of this project was to provide a welcoming and relaxing space to do therapeutic activities that alleviated the boredom during the pandemic and the effects it had brought on the participants. (The five ways to wellbeing booklet during isolation 2020) was a good reference to guide this project
The centre's ethos also wanted to encourage its participants to bring about self-determination and what is a safe place to live in. My facilitation technique played a vital part in my practice and learning on this project because I had to consider the emotional wellbeing of my participants and bring about a warm and friendly compassionate space. At llamau i gained a real understanding of real-life experiences and how applying creative activities in workshops can increase positivity and relaxation.
